Everett Anderson
A memorial service for Everett D. Anderson, 79, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the St. John United Methodist Church. He will be cremated.
Mr. Anderson died Feb. 12, 2011, in Spokane.
Born Aug. 20, 1931, near Ewan, to Floyd and Sophie Brocklin Anderson, he attended school in Ewan. He served as a tank mechanic in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952 when he returned home and married Melva White. Everett farmed with his brother and was a supervisor for the Whitman County Road Department. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by wife, Melva, in 2000.
He is survived by his children, Cindy (Dick) Swegle, Dawn Bass and Lila (Kevin) Hartmeier; one brother, Durward Anderson; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Richard Poffenroth
Funeral services for Richard A. Poffenroth, 76, Spokane Valley, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott. Burial will follow at the Endicott Cemetery.
He died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in Spokane Valley.
Born Feb. 26, 1934, in Endicott, to John A. and Rebecca Bafus Poffenroth, he graduated from Endicott High School and then studied heating and air conditioning and mathematics at Columbia Basin Community College. He lived in Eastern Washington his entire life.
Mr. Poffenroth was an award winning wood carver and carved many gift pieces for family and friends. He enjoyed baseball, especially following the Mariners. He was also an avid fisherman. He loved all animals, and was particularly fond of all the dogs and cats he had over the years. He was a confirmed member at Trinity Lutheran Church at Endicott and also a member at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Spokane Valley.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Poffenroth, of Spokane Valley; two sons, John (Martha) Poffenroth and Paul Richard Poffenroth, and a daughter, Mary (Robert) Jane Zipperer; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Endicott, or Sunshine Gardens Residential Facility, 10410 E. 9th St, Spokane Valley, 99206.

Edward P. Reed
A graveside service for Edward Paul Reed, 58, Oakesdale resident, will be Friday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Oakesdale Cemetery.
Mr. Reed died at his home Friday, Feb. 11, 2011.
Born April 22, 1952, in Spokane, to Paul T. and Hazel Lamb Reed, he was raised on a farm near Seabury between Oakesdale and Tekoa and attended school in Tekoa until third grade when the family moved to Oakesdale. He developed juvenile diabetes that same year, 1960, and fought that fight valiantly his entire life. In 1969 he earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Oakesdale-Farmington Troop 596. He graduated from Oakesdale High School in 1970 and went to work for Western Farm Services Fertilizer and Chemical Co. at Belmont for two years and then went to work for Gardner & Smith at Oakesdale for seven years.
He married Rosemary Clemens June 8, 1973, and the marriage ended in divorce in 1978. He worked for the Whitman County Road Department for a couple years before joining the Oakesdale Grain Growers as a truck driver for the next seven years. He married Nancy Holz in Spokane Sept. 25, 1981. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of son, Evan, Sept. 14, 1992. Nancy died May 18, 2002.
Ed also worked part-time for the Town of Oakesdale and also for Edgar Wilhelm at Wilhelm and Son in Rosalia. He was also a member of Whitman County Fire District 10 since 1973 and served as chief for two years. He was also one of the first EMT’s. He also served on the City Council for seven years.
His son died in an accident March 5, 2006.

Lorinda Claire Warner
Lorinda Claire Warner, died Jan. 31, 2011, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ed and Janice Olson of Colfax. A funeral service celebrating her life will be on the date of her 100th birthday, April 30, at the Albion Community Church at 2 p.m. with burial following at the Albion Cemetery.
Born in Albion, April 30, 1911, to James and Eva Kenoyer, she graduated from Albion High School and went on to attend Huntington College in Huntington, Ind., where she majored in music. She also attended Cheney Normal School. During World War II she was employed by Boeing Aircraft in the engineering department.
She attended cosmetology school in Spokane and worked many years as a beautician and eventually opened her own salon‚”Linda’s Beauty Mart‚” in Pullman.
She married Roy (Buzz) Warner in 1948 and he assisted her in business and gardening. A retired postal employee, he died in 1982.
After her retirement she spent some years in Yucaipa, Calif., to be near relatives residing there. She moved back to Colfax in 2000.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting and was an avid reader. She was a member of Calvary Christian Center in Pullman, and an inactive member of the Pullman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a Sunday school teacher and an accompanist at church for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Doris (Ron) Green of Big Bear Lake, Calif., and Janice (Ed) Olson of Colfax; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Harold Anderson
A memorial service for Harold Anderson, 81, Colfax, was Wednesday morning at Whitman Health & Rehab Center in Colfax. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane. Mr. Anderson died last Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax.
Born Oct. 28, 1929, in Spokane to Nels and Clara Hendricks Anderson, he was raised in Spokane, lived at Lakeland Village in the early 1960’s and later at Clarkston before coming to Colfax. He worked as a maintenance man and also as a meat cutter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite, whom he met and married after coming to Colfax. Mr. Anderson enjoyed reading, watching television and participating in activity programs at Whitman Health & Rehab.
He is survived by three nephews, Ronald Seedorf, Poulsbo; Martin Seedorf, Cheney, and James Seedorf, Eagle River, Alaska.

Eugene Osmun
Eugene P. Osmun, 75, of Colfax died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, in Colfax. The funeral will be at 1:30 pm, Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Bruning Funeral Home Chapel in Colfax. Burial will follow in Colfax Cemetery. A full obituary will be in next week’s Gazette.
Robert J. Walters
Robert J. Walters, 83, long-time resident of Tekoa, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Bayview Manor nursing home in Seattle. Mr. Walters was a retired grocery store manager for Safeway Foods. He managed Safeway stores in Tekoa and Pullman. A funeral service has been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19, at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.
Brother also survives
In the Gazette obituary last week for Betty Timm Hays Bunn, 65, her brother, Fred Timm of Olympia, was unintentionally omitted from the list of survivors. Mrs. Bunn, who was raised at Garfield, died at her home in North Bend Feb. 2. A service was not conducted.
