Genshin Impact 4.8 Leaks: Free New Character Is An Opportunity Players Can't Miss (2024)

A free character in Genshin Impact 4.8 is among the leaked rewards for one of the patch’s upcoming new events. It is not uncommon for some 4-star characters to be given out for free through events in HoYoverse’s action RPG – in fact, in Version 4.4, players were able to choose a free 4-star character as part of the Lantern Rite Festival’s flagship event. While they are given out on occasion, free characters are not to be ignored. Players may even upgrade their Constellation level if they already own the character in Genshin Impact 4.8.

Now, players will have another chance at getting a free character, as hinted by leaks. According to information obtained by Seele Leaks, which was then shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit, Kirara will be given out for free in Version 4.8. The character’s free distribution, according to the leak, will occur via the patch’s main flagship event. Details about the event are still scarce, but there are mentions of a new temporary map that will even tease some of the upcoming gameplay mechanics arriving with the release of Natlan in Genshin Impact.

Players May Need To Reach A Certain Point Threshold In The Event To Unlock Her

While the details about how Kirara may be unlocked for free in the upcoming event in Version 4.8 are still unknown, previous character distributions in flagship events may hint at how this may occur. Normally, in these types of events, players need to muster up specific points that are exclusive to the event they are participating in. By reaching certain level thresholds, players unlock the respective rewards, and characters are often gifted to Genshin Impact players in such a manner. As such, it is safe to assume that players will need to gather points and will then automatically unlock Kirara.

The possibility of Kirara being given out for free is a fairly enticing one. While the 4-star Dendro character is arguably a poor Dendro unit to use, her potential may be boosted by the arrival of Emilie. The already confirmed Dendro character is rumored to enhance Burning Elemental Reactions and, if this is true, Kirara could be a support unit for teams that feature Emilie, helping with Dendro application against enemies and triggering Dendro Resonance for enhanced Elemental Mastery in Genshin Impact.

Additionally, Kirara is a decent shielder so, while she cannot match the potential of Zhongli, for instance, players can still have a reliable shielder on the team that contributes to the overall Dendro spread on opponents. If players have already obtained her and the new Version 4.8 leak is accurate, they may get a chance to unlock Kirara’s Constellations, which can then deepen her mastery over Dendro application. The 4-star unit may still be weak individually, but with the proper team comp, aided by the upcoming Emilie, Kirara could be a great free character offered in Version 4.8.

For now, however, leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as they may be incorrect or simply subject to change. Nevertheless, the prospect of a free character sounds particularly good as HoYoverse starts to shift gears and get ready for the release of Natlan in Genshin Impact after Version 4.8.
