Real vs. Artificial Flowers for Floral Arrangements
The first decision you’ll need to make when putting together a floral arrangement is whether you want to use real or artificial flowers.
Real flowers can feel much more elegant and give off a nice scent, while artificial flowers don’t wilt and can be reused over and over.
If course, for this tutorial we’re using artificial floral stems purchased from the Dollar Tree.
I am a huge fan of artificial flowers (unless it’s a really fancy event) because I don’t have to worry about keeping them alive and I can readjust and reuse them for years!
I’ve even spray painted some of my older floral stems after years of using them to give them a fresh, new look.
Artificial flowers and plants are a great investment if you’re decorating on a budget.

How to Make a Spring Dollar Tree Floral Arrangement
STEP 1: Prep your stems.
Begin by using your wire cutters to cut each individual stem off of the bundles.
Be careful not to let the leaves slide off the bottom of the cut stem as you go.
Continue until all your stems are individuals.
STEP 2: Glue in your foam.
Next, put hot glue on the bottom side of your floral foam and glue it into the galvanized bucket.
If needed, put two squares in together and then layer them on top of each other to get them as tall as the bucket.
Put a little glue between the pieces to make sure it’s solid.

STEP 3: Add the stems.
Begin by laying some of your greenery stems in the bucket so they hang out the sides.
These don’t need to be glued in – just rested there.
Then, start with one of your larger flowers and stick the stems into the floral foam leaving some space between them.
For your smaller blooms, group 2-3 stems together and stick them into the foam around the large flowers.
Continue adding flowers and greenery into the large empty sections until the bouquet feels full.
Try placing large groups greenery in the bottom sections to add a little oomph.
And that’s it!
You can easily change up the style of this bouquet by using different colored flowers.
I love pink, so chose to add that color to mine – try just white and greenery for a more traditional farmhouse style.
